On Applebee Pond: Life Skills Puppet Program Share +
For Pre-K through 3rd Grade Students
Through the visual power of puppetry, we engage 1,000+ local children each year through this award-winning, scientific-based life skills program. Designed by the Mercer County Behavioral Health Commission of Pennsylvania, On Applebee Pond is a creative prevention tool and cross-age teaching mechanism that aids children in developing positive life skills, thereby decreasing their risk of making unhealthy life choices.
This program focuses on five prevention themes: Social Skills, Safety Skills, Self-Esteem, Conflict Resolution and Age-Appropriate Awareness of Chemicals.
Some of these lessons include:
- How to identify adults you can trust
- How to identify harmful substances in an environment
- Protecting yourself from strangers
- Learning to listen, understand and trust our feelings
- Exploring reasons why each person's unique
On Applebee Pond Puppet Show is available through seven different schools in Coronado: Crown Preschool, Early Childhood Development Center, Village Elementary School, Silver Strand Elementary School, Christ Church Day School, Sacred Heart Parish School, Southern Baptist Church Preschool and Sandpiper Montesssori School.
